Antibacterial Drug 10% ofloxacin injection
DESCRIPTION
Transparent oily liquid from colorless to light yellow.
COMPOSITION
1 ml contains the active ingredient:
ofloxacin - 100.0 mg.Excipients: 1,2 - propylene glycol, purified water.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The active ingredient of the preparation is an antibiotic ofloxacin, an antibiotic of fluoroquinolone group.
Ofloxacin is active against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, especially against E. coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Serratia spp., Camphylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Yersinia spp., Vibrio spp., Aeromonas spp., Haemophilus spp., to the preparation are also sensitive: Brucella spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillinase-producing and methicillin-resistant strains), Mycoplasma spp., Mycobacterium spp.Mechanism of preparation action is inhibition of bacterial DNA - gyrase (topoisomerase II), thus stopping the process of spiralisation and DNA synthesis.
USE
Treatment of dogs and cats suffering from septicemia, arthritis, polyarthritis, meningitis, mastitis, dermatitis, secondary infections in viral diseases and respiratory diseases (tonsillitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, bronchopneumonia), gastrointestinal tract ( gastritis, enteritis, peritonitis), urogenital system (nephritis, pyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, metritis, urotsystyt) caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin.
DOSAGE
Orally with drinking water or food in a dose of 0.25 ml per 10 kg of body weight. The preparation is used with intervals 24 hours, treatment course - 3 - 5 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin.
Do not administer to animals with impaired renal function and liver.Do not use simultaneously with tetracyclines, macrolides, lincosamides, chloramphenicol, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations. Do not used to treat horses.Do not use dogs small breeds up to 8 - month old, large dog breeds - to 18 - months of age, cats - up to 8 months of age, due to the negative effect on the formation of cartilage and bone tissues.
PRECAUTIONS
In recommended doses, side effects are usually not observed. If side effects appear (itching, nausea, vomiting, muscle tremors) stop using the preparation, use desensitizing therapy.
The preparation is not recommended for pregnant animals. Use of the preparation is allowed only when it is clear that the effect of the use dominates the possible negative consequences.
STORAGE
Dry, dark, inaccessible to children place at temperature from 5° to 25°C.
